Lore24 Week 14

All about Elves this week. No random rolls for seeding entries this time, either! But yet again this week took me a little longer than 7 days--getting the Elven Envoy camps into something presentable took some thinking on the motivations of the envoy in general. But it was fruitful contemplation. More next week!

Week 141

Entry 82

From last week, I continue work on the camps of the Elven Envoys:

Smaller camps of Envoys can be found throughout Sablevine, sent out from the HQ. These smaller camps are a random encounter for certain hexes. I'll detail these smaller camps next week!

How many?2

Elven Envoy Camps
In camp 2d12 (1 Chusa of Camp)
On sentry/patrol 1d4
Chance for patrol 3-in-6

Patrols will be encountered in a hex before the camp is (replaces both spoor/encounter omen and encounter for the camp).

What can you get from the camp?

They will always trade away:

They will always want:

They will never trade:

What are they doing in the area? Depends on the area.

What are they doing right now?

1d10 The Elves are...
1 Singing, making the foliage around the camp writhe into a fence
2 Spread out, collecting giant warhorses who had been spooked
3 All heads down, writing poetry in silence this week
4 Interrogating a Llyfan for information he doesn't seem to have
5 Bartering with locals
6 Sitting around the fire, sharing personal tragedies
7 Drawing on the ground, plans of assaulting (nearby faction location)
8 Fulfiilling their local mission
9 No work today. Elven holiday, with bizarre pageantry.
10 Interacting with (roll a second random encounter)

When in doubt, ktrey's always got a table for that.

Entry 83

Elven Emperor Dirgeful Grove

I've been thinking about the [Immutable Emperor] of the Elves some more, and what that empire looks like. Do they have the same Emperor from the founding of the empire? Or is it someone new every few hundred years and no one acknowledges it? I landed on "both".

All past emperors who have died (due to disease, assassination, etc.) are interred under [Mana Trees] in a particular, secure grove as is custom. All of the trees in this grove share roots with the Throne Tree. This connection allows all of the memories and thoughts of past emperors to be available to the current emperor.

Entry 84

Elven Emperor Throne Tree

The throne tree, with its roots intertwined with those of the Mana grove of the emperor, has been Spellsong-shaped into a throne at its base. This is where the Immutable Emperor of the Elves holds court, in the capitol city of XYZ

The emperor has most acute access to previous emperors' memories when he sits on the throne, but also shares them in dreams when he sleeps in the palace or when he travels with a specialized wagon.

Entry 85

Travels with the tree in a terrarium wagon. The wagon convoys with choir wagons that constantly sing protective spell songs.

Entry 86

Dwarven Menhir backpack

In the Beast God cults of the far south and southwest, in stead of imbuing a soul into a mobile, humanoid Menhir, those cherished souls will be enchanted into forms with eyes and arms, but no legs. These are often worn as a sort of backpack, usually by the fallen's kin. Think a fantasy Doc Ock'.

Entry 87

New and improved manifestations tables here. Improvements include: each subtable is now rollable with a die, including some additional manifestations to round out numbers, better descriptions of what each does to the beast, and a new column for mechanical effects. I will be making a procedure to generate Manifestation Beasts which will involve rolling on these tables.

Entry 88

Dirgeful Groves

Emperor can rule a large empire via tree groves in each city. A servant will channel the will of the emperor for a time if communication is required. Though it is an honor, this is hard on the servant and afterwards they will slip into a coma.
